Aharon ben Eliyahu
- Account of his Life
Known as Aharon the younger, Aharon ben Eliyahu was born in Nicomedia, which
is today Izmid, in Asia Minor. He died when he was very young, in 1369,
at Constantinople. Aharon is best known for his composition of three major
works: Eitz Chayyim (the philosophy of religion), Gan Eiden (law) and Keter
Torah (commentary on the Torah). Aharon was well learned in Karaism and
Rabbanism, like his predecessors. He often quotes in his works from eminent
Rabbanite commentators, as well as the Mishneh and Talmud. Little else is
known about his life. |
