Rabbanite Misconceptions
Our Sages wrote:
As for the Rabbanites’ claim that Shavu‘ot is the very day of the array at
Mount Sinai, it is a claim devoid of proof, and the Miqra’ rather testifies
to the exact opposite thereof (Devarim [Deuteronomy] 16). We pray God, therefore, that He may open
their hearts and eyes, so that the truth may be revealed to them and they
may follow it and turn back from the acts of disobedience in which they
are now indulging and perform the true requirements of that which He has
ordained and prescribed for them, as it is written, “...you shall return
unto YHWH, your God, and shall listen to His voice, according to all that
I command you this day” (Devarim [Deuteronomy] 30:2).
