Yom Teru‘ah - ‘Avodah

Yom Teru‘ah [The Day of Shouting/Trumpeting] is called in the Torah a Shabbaton [a day of Sabbath-like observance]and a holy convocation; it is not called a festival. Mela’khah and ‘Avodah [work] are prohibited on Yom Teru‘ah, except that which is required in the preparation of food to be consumed that day.
